11 October 2024 – Abandoned Housing Workshop
REHDA Institute has developed a new report titled Abandoned Housing: Challenges, Insights and Solutions, analysing the root causes of project abandonment in Malaysia and offering policy recommendations to protect stakeholders and strengthen the housing delivery system. To ensure the report’s relevance and accuracy, a workshop was held with representatives from over 30 organisations, including the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, local authorities and key industry players, to review preliminary findings and exchange insights.

23 July 2024 – International Green Build Conference 2024
The 4th International Green Build Conference (IGBC) 2024, co-organised by REHDA Institute and GreenRE on 23 July 2024 at One World Hotel, was officiated by YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability. The conference drew over 500 participants and featured speakers from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia. Key discussions revolved around the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), ESG reporting, decarbonisation in real estate, and the role of emerging technologies in driving sustainable development. A major milestone was the launch of the GreenRE Energy Certification, a new framework for existing non-residential buildings.

14 May 2024 – Affordable Housing II Report Official Launch
REHDA Institute, in collaboration with housing experts and key industry stakeholders including Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB), launched a new research report titled Affordable Housing II – Closing the Gap: A Strategic Approach to Balancing Supply & Demand. This research report addresses micro-level structural issues in Malaysia’s affordable housing sector and examines the key factors behind the persistent affordability challenge. It builds on the insights of the findings of the 2018 inaugural report, Affordable Housing – The Game Plan Transformation. The research report was officially launched by YB Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government, alongside prominent industry stakeholders at the Regional Housing Conference 2024.

14 May 2024 – Regional Housing Conference 2024
REHDA Institute organised the Regional Housing Conference 2024 on 14 May 2024 at AVANTÉ Hotel which was officiated by YB Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), The conference which gathered more than 20 local government authorities also featured regional experts from Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, focusing on how housing impacts sustainable urban development and city planning. A key milestone was the launch of REHDA Institute’s “Affordable Housing II – Closing the Gap” report, which called for differentiated affordable housing policies and proposed new measurement frameworks including the Residual Income approach.

24 January 2024 – Affordable Housing II Report Workshop
REHDA Institute hosted the Affordable Housing II Report Workshop, bringing together over 90 key stakeholders from government agencies, academia, local authorities and the banking sector. The workshop supports the development of the report titled, Affordable Housing II – Closing the Gap: A Strategic Approach to Balancing Supply & Demand, in collaboration with Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB). Its objective is to ensure policy recommendations are aligned with real market needs ahead of the report’s official launch at the Regional Housing Conference 2024.

5 – 8 March 2024 – Hong Kong & Shenzhen (China) Study Tour 2024
The Hong Kong & Shenzhen (China)Study Tour 2024, organized by REHDA Institute from 5-8 March 2024, saw over 50 Malaysian delegates including developers, architects, town planners, and government authorities. The high level study tour was joined YB Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), who used the platform to announce the upcoming Urban Redevelopment Act and new public housing model, Program Residensi Rakyat (PRR). Delegates visited various benchmark projects and engaged with Hong Kong’s Urban Renewal Authority and Shenzhen’s urban development bodies, gaining insights on integrated urban planning, redevelopment strategies, transit-oriented development, and green public housing models.

7 December 2023 – CEO Series 2023
The CEO Series 2023, organized by REHDA Institute on 7 December 2023 at Le Meridien Petaling Jaya, brought together over 350 senior stakeholders from the government and various industries to explore Malaysia’s economic trajectory for 2024. The event featured a keynote by YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), who emphasized paradigm shifts in productivity, wages, and industrial policy under the National Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030. Key insights included the rise of green-certified buildings, evolving consumer buying trends, and Malaysia’s growing role in global supply chains. A notable milestone was the MoU exchange between REHDA and Universiti Malaya to enhance collaboration in policy research, affordable housing, and ESG development.

22 – 24 August 2023 – Jakarta Study Tour & Masterclass 2023
REHDA Institute’s Jakarta Study Tour & Masterclass 2023, held from 22-24 August 2025, brought together 40 Malaysian delegates led by Trustees, Tan Sri Datuk Eddy Chen, Tan Sri Teo Chiang Kok, and Datuk Haji Muztaza Mohamad. The delegation explored large-scale developments such as BSD City, SCBD, ASHTA District 8, Jababeka City, and PIK 2, gaining insights into Indonesia’s integrated urban planning and green initiatives. Networking sessions with Indonesian developers, government agencies, and financial institutions offered valuable perspectives on investment opportunities, particularly in the upcoming Nusantara capital.

1 August 2023 – International Green Build Conference 2023
The International Green Build Conference (IGBC) 2023, jointly organized by GreenRE and REHDA Institute, was officiated by YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change. The conference featured 14 speakers from countries including Australia, Canada, and Brunei, with prominent foreign experts sharing best practices in net-zero building design, embodied carbon frameworks, and sustainable development. Key topics included carbon pricing, green financing, and innovations in sustainable construction. A significant milestone was the launch of GreenRE’s Sustainable Real Estate Book in celebration of its 10th anniversary, showcasing leading green building case studies.
