11 October 2024 – Abandoned Housing Report Workshop
REHDA Institute developed the report Abandoned Housing: Challenges, Insights and Solutions, examining the root causes of project abandonment in Malaysia and offering policy recommendations to protect stakeholders and strengthen the housing delivery system. To ensure its relevance and accuracy, a workshop was held with over 30 representatives from key organisations, including the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, local authorities and industry leaders, to review preliminary findings and exchange valuable insights.
23 July 2024 – International Green Build Conference 2024
On 23 July 2024, the International Green Build Conference at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya gathered industry leaders to explore sustainable building, energy transition and green technologies. Key highlights included a keynote by YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and expert insights from TNB, NUS, Progressture Solar, Maybank, Bursa Malaysia and others. The conference featured ESG discussions, climate strategies and case studies on innovative green practices across Southeast Asia, fostering collaboration for a more sustainable built environment.
14 May 2024 – Regional Housing Conference 2024
Held on 14 May 2024 at M World Hotel, Petaling Jaya, the Regional Housing Conference 2024 focused on how housing impacts sustainable urban development and city planning. Officiated by YB Tuan Nga Kor Ming, the event featured insights from international experts on housing affordability, social housing and urban resilience. Key discussions explored data-driven planning, affordable housing delivery and sustainable strategies, including the launch of the Affordable Housing II Report. The conference served as a vital platform for regional collaboration on future-ready housing solutions.
5 – 8 March 2024 – Hong Kong & Shenzhen (China) Study Tour 2024
Led by REHDA Institute Board Members, including Chairman Dato’ Jeffrey Ng Tiong Lip and joined by Minister of Housing and Local Government, YB Nga Kor Ming, KPKT senior officials and over 55 delegates, REHDA Institute organised a 4-day study tour to Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The tour included site visits to Hong Kong’s Urban Renewal Authority, Housing Society’s senior living at Tanner Hills and public housing at Hoi Tat Estate. A private dinner enabled engagement with key figures from Our Hong Kong Foundation, Kerry Properties and REDA Hong Kong. The visit provided key insights into innovative housing strategies and fostered cross-border collaboration.
24 January 2024 – Affordable Housing II Report Workshop
REHDA Institute was hosting the Affordable Housing II Report Workshop, bringing together over 90 key stakeholders from government agencies, academia, local authorities and the banking sector. The workshop was forming an integral part of the development process for the research report titled Affordable Housing II – Closing the Gap: A Strategic Approach to Balancing Supply & Demand, developed in collaboration with Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB). The session was aiming to ensure that policy recommendations were aligned with real market needs, reinforcing the report’s relevance and impact ahead of its official launch at the Regional Housing Conference 2024.
7 December 2023 – CEO Series 2023
The CEO Series 2023 welcomed over 400 participants and featured insights from 10 industry experts on Malaysia’s 2024 economic outlook and development. A key highlight was the presence of YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, who shared perspectives on the National Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030. The event also marked the MoU exchange between REHDA Institute and Universiti Malaya, alongside the graduation ceremony for MRED graduates.
1 August 2023 – International Green Build Conference 2023
The International Green Build Conference (IGBC) 2023, jointly organised by GreenRE and REHDA Institute, was officiated by YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change. The event featured 14 distinguished speakers from countries including Australia, Canada and Brunei, who shared global best practices in net-zero building design, embodied carbon frameworks and sustainable development. Discussions covered key topics such as carbon pricing, green financing and innovation in sustainable construction. A major highlight was the launch of GreenRE’s Sustainable Real Estate Book in conjunction with its 10th anniversary, featuring exemplary green building case studies.
