We live in a new era where everything can be connected which includes the people, businesses, and electronic devices. With the recent rise in the innovation and adoption of Internet of Things (IoT), it has been one of the most talked-about components of technology in the last couple of years. The implementation of IoT at construction sites will allow various parties to monitor projects, supplies, the site, workers and the machines more effectively by linking everything to the Internet.
When IoT is implemented together with Industrialised Building System (IBS), it creates a whole new world of opportunities that can potentially help stimulate the property development and construction industry as we progress into the year 2020 and beyond. The question arises as to how the property development and construction industry is going to face such changes and are the local players ready to harness the full potential of IBS + IoT?
This one-day workshop will look into the readiness of the Malaysian real estate and construction industry in adopting IoT and its issues and challenges. The objectives of the event are as follows:
- to explore the general application of IBS + IoT and its adoption in property development and construction industry
- to investigate the awareness of the industrial players toward the application of IBS + IoT
- to identify the issues and barriers in the adoption of IBS + IoT in Malaysia’s property development and construction industry.
